"In The Mundane"

Lying on my back on the grass,
gazing at the canopy of trees.
Breezes gently sway this earthbound heavenscape.
The upper, leaf-laden branches in profile against the blue sky.
There is nothing to do but witness...
and breathe.
No agenda, no timeline, no to-do list,
no urgency, emergency, worry, fear, depression, rage,
no...none of that.
Just the upper, leaf-laden branches in profile against the blue sky.
Settling into the divinity of the mundane.
Then...a shift,
a subtle transmutation.
Eyes closing,
traveling inward, yet expanding simultaneously.
Flying into the vastness of the subatomic.
Conceptualizing, then inhabiting being in the moment;
In the now.
And again, in the now.
Again, now.
now
now
now...
Another shift.
Now...just light and patterns.
Immersed in a square-cut diamond of light,
sometimes yellow, sometimes white, sometimes orange.
I cease to exist,
dissolved within and without
this otherworldy thing.
In the now is time less.
now...
My eyes open.
ground.
focus.
I see the upper, leaf-laden branches in profile against the blue sky.
